On 19 June 2014, H.E. Mr. Nopporn Adchariyavanich, Thai Ambassador accredited to the Republic of Maldives, presented his letter of Credence to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom of Maldives at the President’s Office.
The President congratulated the Thai Ambassador and discussed on the bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen ties, particularly, trade, investment and technical cooperation between the two countries.
On the same occasion, the Thai Ambassador explained the reason why the military leaders had to seize administrative power in Thailand on 22 May 2014. The Thai Ambassador informed the Maldivian President of the 3 step roadmap to run the country of the Tational Council for Peace and Order. The Thai Ambassador assured the Maldivian President that the current situation in Thailand has returned to normalcy. Due to the said fact, the Maldivian government has consequently lifted the travel alert to Thailand since 22 June 2014.
