Announcement of the National Peace and Order Maintaining Council

Subject: Temporary Suspension of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand

With reference to Announcement No.1/2557 of the National Peace and Order Maintaining Council regarding their control of national administration from 16.30 hrs of 22 May 2014 onwards;

To ensure an effective public administration within the Kingdom of Thailand, the NPOMC hereby order the following:      

                        1.  The Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand B.E. 2550 (2007) is temporarily suspended except provisions under Chapter 2 regarding The King;

                        2.   The Acting Cabinet is relieved of its duties;            

                        3.   The Senate, constituting all current members as of the date on which this Announcement takes effect, is to continue their duties;

                        4.  All Courts still retain their powers in the trial and adjudication of cases pursuant to the law and the announcements of the National Peace and Order Maintaining Council;

                        5.  The Independent Organizations and other Constitutional Organizations established by the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand B.E. 2550 (2007) are to continue their duties;

                        These measures shall take effect immediately.
