On 5 April 2014, Mr. Peerasak Chantavarin, Ambassador of Thailand to Egypt, attended the Opening Ceremony of the 21st Universal Holy Qur’an Competition, at the Al-Azhar University Conference Room. The competition is organized by the Ministry of Endowments of Egypt.
This year, participants from 65 countries take part in the competition. Thailand by the Central Islamic Committee selects Mr. Muhammad Kaping to participate in the competition during 5 – 10 April 2014 at Al-Azhar University Conference Room, while Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand financially supports the travelling and accommodation for Mr. Saman Gorpitak, Head of international affairs of Muslim Association of Al- Qur’an Readers of Thailand under the Patronage of the Sheik-al Islam, who help prepare and take care of the Thai participant.  The Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo is committed to coordinate between the Thai participant and the organizer, along with to facilitate the delegation with the living in Cairo throughout their stay. Thai government has constantly been supporting participant to participate in the International Qur’an Competition in many countries for over the past many years.
