Thai Ambassador to Myanmar surveyed areas along Myanmar-Thai border in Kayin and Mon State

During 28 April – 1 May 2014, H.E. Mr. Pisanu Suvanajata, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar led members of Team Thailand in Myanmar to survey areas along Myanmar-Thai border in Myawaddy and Hpa-An in Kayin State and Mawlamyine in Mon State. The purpose of the survey is to study the potentials in trade, investment, tourism and connectivity cooperation between both countries in order to further promote economic and development cooperation with Myanmar in the areas.
 
During the trip, the Ambassador and his delegation met with Chief Ministers of Kayin State and Mon State. Both sides exchanged views on trade and investment cooperation in the agricultural, industrial and hotels and tourism areas as well as cooperation on connectivity between both countries by roads and by air. 
 
Ambassador and his delegation also visited Mawlamyine Leprosy Hospital and donated cash and medicines for the patients together with Siam Cement Group (SCG) Company Limited. They also visited the construction site of the SCG’s cement plant in Mon State, which is considered to be one of the biggest investment of Thailand in Myanmar at the estimated amount of 400 million USD.
