On Sunday 30th March 2014, Mr. Aroon Jivasakapimas, the Consul-General, together with Mrs. Pranin Muttaharach, Deputy Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Labour, presided over the Certificate Award and Closing Ceremonies of the “National Labour Standard Examination Programme in the Field of Thai Cuisine Chefs, Level 1” at the Royal Thai Consulate-General. The programme was held during 25th – 30th March, 2014, at Crystal Thai, with the collaboration between the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Hong Kong, together with the Royal Thai Consulate-General (Labour Section), and the Department of Skill Development of the Ministry of Labour. It was aimed at examining and improving the skills of Thai chefs in line with the national and international standards, in accordance with the Kitchen to the World policy of the Thai Government. The total number of 27 out of 42 examinees have passed the tests and received a certificate. The Examination Committee, chaired by Ms. Wandee Na-song khla, a Thai cuisine expert, conducted tests on the making of original Thai dishes, including “Tom Yum Koong”, “Yum Voon Sen”, “Phat Thai”, and “Green Beans in Syrup”. The examination has raised the awareness and allowed the conservation of the traditional Thai culinary arts.
