Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow reaffirms Thailand as a top destination for Russians

On March 19, 2014, H.E. Dr. Itti Ditbanjong, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation presided over the Opening Ceremony of Thailand Pavilion at the 2014 Moscow International Travel & Tourism (MITT), Russia’s largest travel exhibition, which was organized by Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Moscow. The MITT was held from 19 - 24 March 2014.
 
The Ambassador of Thailand had reaffirmed the confidence on tourism in Thailand to Russian tour operators who participated in the event. The Royal Thai Government, together with all concerned private sectors were highly appreciated with the continuous increase of Thailand’ s popularity among Russian tourists. He also reiterated that Thailand had given priority on the safety of all foreign tourists besides her commitment towards the higher international standards of tourism industry with an even more state-of-the-art infrastructures. 
 
During the event, Thailand Tourism Authority with the cooperation of some major tour operators in Russia, as well as some Thai leading spas and hotels conducted the business matching activities and marketing promotions. Those, for instance, included Dusit International Group, St. Carlos Group (medical tourism cluster) and Thai Airways International.
 
In 2013, the Russian tourists traveling to Thailand have reached more than 1.7 millions with the significant increase of more than 30% comparing to that of the year 2012. Moreover, despite the unusual political situation in Thailand, 200,000 Russian tourists still traveled to the country in January and February 2014, of which the number had increased by 22% when comparing with the same period   of 2013.
