On January 15th of 2014, His Excellency Mr. Ruengdej Mahasaranond, Ambassador of Thailand to Colombia, along with the Embassy’s official, presided over the presentation ceremony to hand over more than 100 items of books, CD and related materials in areas of the Thai monarchy, politics, economics and history of Thailand as well as those on Thai traditional cultures, to Dr.Cecilia Maria Velez, Rector of the Colombian University Jorge Tadeo Lozano   in Bogota as part of the “Thai Study Corner” project.

Ambassador Ruengdej Mahasaranond stressed that Thailand attaches great importance of the promotion of Thailand in foreign societies and a university plays a key role not only in encouraging self and life-long learning in a society but also in serving as a bridge between scholars, students and people from all walks of life.

The opening ceremony of Thai education corner donated to the University by the Royal Thai Government symbolizes the friendship and cooperation between Thailand and Colombian, reflecting the desire to strengthen and deepen bilateral cultural ties.

The Colombian University Jorge Tadeo Lozano was established in 1954 consisting of 4 faculties and 37 degree programmes with approximately 10,000 students.
