On 17 January 2014, H.E. Mr. Tomwit Jarnson, Ambassador of Thailand to Pakistan paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Imran Yawer, Director General of East Asian and Pacific Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.  Ambassador and Director General expressed satisfaction with the current close and cordial relations happily existing between the two countries. Last year, the exchange of visits between the two Prime Ministers furthered strengthening their bilateral relations. At people level, a number of the Thai students in Pakistan have increased. Currently, there were more than 40 Thai students in the International Islamic University, Islamabad with 42 new students on the way, while there were many Pakistani students continuing their studies in Thailand, especially at the Asian Institute of Technology. For the consular matters, the Agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic Passports would enter into force on 19 January 2014.
