Continuing a Thai Tradition in the Night of Candlelight – The Royal Thai Embassy in Prague organized an event called ‘Loy Kratong on the Cruise’ on 17 November 2013. H.E. Mr. Vitavas Srivihok, Ambassador of Thailand to the Czech Republic, together with his wife, diplomats and staff from the Royal Thai Embassy, welcomed more than 100 participants from Thai community in Prague and members of Czech-Thai Society to join hands continuing Loy Kratong Festival, a longstanding Thai tradition and to float small rafts with candlelight (kratong) on the river, lighting up the Valtava River in the full moon night. Moreover, all the participants, Thais, Czechs and foreigners, also very much enjoyed Thai snacks, Thai dance (ramwong) and the contest of Thai traditional dress during the event organized on the cruise.

     Having joy and fun in the Christmas Festival for Charity – On 24 November, the Royal Thai Embassy was joining the International Christmas Festival 2013 at the Hilton Prague Hotel. The event is held annually by the Diplomatic Spouses Association in Prague in order to raise fund for the charitable organizations in the Czech Republic by selling international products at the Festival. This year, the Royal Thai Embassy enthusiastically presented a great number of Thai goods and cuisine, for example, fragrant carved soap, pashmina, products of Sai Jai Thai Foundation, Muay Thai boxing short, artificial flower, Pad Thai noodle, crispy rice vermicelli, fried spring roll, roasted chicken skewer, fried shrimp cake, sticky rice with egg custard, pandan cake and Thai traditional sweets. Most of the products turned out to be very popular among the visitors. Also, other Embassies in Prague brought their own traditional goods to join the Festival too. Moreover, five ASEAN Embassies in Prague, namely Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines and Malaysia also co-organized a ‘Made in ASEAN’ booth to promote several products from ASEAN Countries as well. The Festival did serve the purpose of Charity in the cheerful atmosphere indeed.
