The Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow promotes Thai - Russian Cooperation on Trade

          H.E. Dr. Itti Ditbanjong, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation, participated in the last weeks in various activities to promote the Thai - Russian cooperation on trade. This included the ‘Thailand Week in Russia 2013’ which was inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce of Thailand, on 16 September 2013.

          The ‘Thailand Week in Russia 2013’ which was held from 16 - 20 September 2013 in Moscow comprised of an exhibition to promote Thai - Russian economic cooperation, a business matching between Thai - Russian entrepreneurs with            more than 70 companies participating, the business forum on Thai - Russian trade and investment opportunities, and the participation of the different Thai private sectors in the important trade fairs which are annually organized in Russia, the ‘World Food’ fair (16 - 20 September 2013) and ‘Household 2013’ (17 - 20 September 2013).

          This special event is one of the special activities that the Royal Thai Embassy and the Team Thailand in Moscow have jointly organized to promote closer ties and dialogue between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Russian Federation under the main theme September 2013: Spotlight on Thailand in Russia”.

During the opening ceremony of the ‘Thailand Week in Russia 2013’, H.E. the Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, was accompanied by H.E. the Thai Ambassador to the Russian Federation, to visit the Embassy’s exhibition ‘116 Years of Close Friendship between Thailand and Russia’.

The exhibition’s main focus was on the longstanding Thai - Russian relations which has over the years become a special factor recognized by both countries as an important basis for further strengthening and promoting the bilateral cooperation of all fields between the two countries until today.     

H.E. Mr. Denis Manturov, Minister of Trade and Industry of Russia and the Co-Chairman for the Russian side of the Thai - Russian Joint Committee, attended all major functions. Both sides reiterated the common objective of Thailand and Russia to double their trade volume within the next five years.

More than three hundred Thai and Russian businessmen attended the business forum on Thai - Russian business opportunities, which has not only helped facilitate business networking, but also was an excellent opportunity for Russia to explore further business opportunities with Thailand after the completion of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.
