On 30 September 2013, Mr. Surapong Tovichakchaikul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, met with Mr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, to discuss issues of mutual interest, in New York on the sidelines of the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Foreign Minister Ghebreyesus said the Ethiopian Government looked forward to receiving Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on her upcoming official visit to Ethiopia this November.  The two Foreign Ministers also discussed the possibility of opening a Royal Thai Embassy in Addis Ababa.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Surapong also reiterated Prime Minister Yingluck’s invitation for the Ethiopian President to attend the High-Level Dialogue under the Thai-Africa Initiative, to be held in Thailand in February 2014.
