As the Designated Representative of His Majesty the King
on the Occasion of the State Banquet Given
in Honour of
Their Majesties the Yang di-Pertuan Agong
and

at

---------------------------------------

Your Majesties,

It is indeed a very high honour and with the greatest of pleasure that I have been designated by His Majesty the King to be his Representative to welcome on his behalf Your Majesties the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Raja Permaisuri Agong at the banquet this evening in Your Majesties’ honour. We sincerely hope that Your Majesties will be afforded every pleasure and convenience all the time of your stay in Thailand during this Visit.

The relations of friendship between Thailand and Malaysia have been so long-standing and clearly manifested that there is no need to go into any detail. I cannot, however, pass up the opportunity to underline the fact that Your Majesties’ Visit this time assuredly stands out as a most memorable chapter in the history of our two countries’ relations for being the first time that Thailand has had the privilege of welcoming, in the figure of Your Majesty, the very same person twice in the exalted position of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia. We, the people of Thailand, always recall with much fondness how fortunate we were to have had the pleasure of welcoming Your Majesty to our country precisely forty years ago. This second State Visit, therefore, will afford an opportunity for all Thai people to extend a warm reception to Your Majesty once again. Indeed, this bears witness to the uninterrupted warmth and cordial relations between our two countries and will in turn help to promote and strengthen our relations to even greater heights and success.

On this auspicious occasion, I am proud to convey on behalf of His Majesty the King, how truly delighted he is to welcome Your Majesties the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Raja Permaisuri Agong on the present State Visit. Though unable to be here in person at this State Banquet tonight, His Majesty extends his warmest and very best wishes for Your Majesties’ happiness and good health as well as for the even greater success and prosperity of Malaysia and her people.
