Thai ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt paid a courtesy call on Major General Mohamed Mohamed Kamel, Governor of the Red Sea Governorate

On 15 May 2013, H.E. Chalit Manityakul, Thai ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt together with ASEAN ambassadors in Egypt, namely, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam paid a courtesy call on Major General Mohamed Mohamed Kamel, Governor of the Red Sea Governorate.

Major General Mohamed Mohamed Kamel welcomed the ASEAN ambassadors and addressed the importance of the South East Asian region. Recently, the region has developed strongly and rapidly especially in economic perspective. The Red Sea Governor wishes to expand more cooperation in trade and investment with nations from South East Asia, particularly, in the field of mining.

H.E. Chalit Manityakul expressed the readiness of the Royal Thai Government supporting cooperation between ASEAN countries and Red Sea Governorate and Egypt. The Thai ambassador also mentioned that the reason of the visit was also to meet with 50-70 Thai people working in Hurghada in service sectors.  

The courtesy call on the Red Sea Governor is one of the ASEAN Committee in Cairo’s activities which promotes ASEAN nations and the region to be known among Egyptian people. The ASEAN ambassadors had recently visited the Aswan governor in March 2013.
