The Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Spain and the Japan Foundation and various other entities, organized a jazz concert of the band “Unit Asia” which is composed of well-known jazz musicians from Thailand, Japan and Malaysia. Unit Asia band specializes in the Asian fusion style of Jazz music. Mr. Sekpol Unsamran or “Koh the Saxman” is the leading Thai saxophonist. The Embassy cooperates with the Thai Trade Center in Spain, Thai Airways International, CP Foods (Spain) and several Thai restaurants to organize two exclusive performances of the band in Madrid and Barcelona. 

     H.E. Mr. Kulkumut Singhara Na Ayudhaya, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain attended the band’s concert on 6 February 2013 at Círculo de Bellas Artes Theatre, Madrid, together with H.E. Mr. Satoru Satoh, Ambassador of Japan to Spain. Then on 8 February 2013, the Ambassador of Thailand attended the performance of the band at BARTS Theatre, Barcelona together with H.E. the Consul General of Japan in Barcelona.   

     The two performances of the jazz band were very successful, as the audience of over 400 persons in Madrid and over 600 persons in Barcelona were pleased with the lively colorful and emotionally touching jazz songs which are unique songs of the Unit Asia band.  Mr. Unsamran, who is a celebrated saxophonist in Thailand, together with the talented Unit Asia band, received warm applause and outstanding recognition after the performances. 

     The Royal Thai Embassy also supported activities to promote Thai food and Thai restaurants along the interval break between performances. The audience had the opportunity to taste Thai food and be introduced to some of the Thai restaurants, Thai spas and Thai food products already available in Spain.
