On 13 February 2013, Mr.PoldejWorachat, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka donated fundto Doctor H.T. Wickramasinghe and Professor Doctor Asvini D. Fernando, President of Sri Lanka College of Pediatricians in the amount of USD 10,000. This amount of fundreceived from the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society of Thailand and will be used to improve hand washing facilities in neonatal units in hospitals in many areas in Sri Lanka such as NuwaraEliya, Jaffna, Matara and Anuradhapura to help reduce mortality due to sepsis in the country.
