On 23 January 2013, the Royal Thai Embassy organized the 57th Thai Cooking Demonstration at the Thai Residence in Santiago. This session was a debut of Ms. Lamyai Ang-kab, new chef of the Thai residence. The demonstration included the preparation of three authentic Thai dishes; namely, Pork Canapé (Kanompang Na Moo), Salmon in Red Curry Chu Chee (Chu Chee Pla Salmon), and Cantaloupe and Sago in Coconut Milk (Saku Cantaloupe).

The ingredients used in each dish are originally Thai and can be easily found in Asian stores and supermarkets in Chile. In addition to Thai food products and ingredients available in local market, mobile exhibition on Thai culture and tourism was also displayed in the activity area.

Approximately 115 participants, including diplomats and their families, chefs, restaurant owners, housewives, students and media as well as interested public took part in the activity where they enjoyed the samples of the authentic Thai dishes and received “Mi Diario de Cocina Tailandesa” - a cookbook published by the Embassy, information on Thai food, and Thai snack as tokens of appreciation for their support to the activity.
