On 12^th January 2013, H.E. Mr. Bansarn Bunnag, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Poland gave a special lecture on Thailand’s foreign policy, to the post-graduate students at the Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures. The lecture was conducted together with H.E. Mr. Boguslaw Zakrzewski, former Polish Ambassador to Thailand by invitation of Professor Jerzy Zdanowski, Director of the post-graduate course “Politics and Culture in Asia and Africa” and vice- director of the Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures.

     Ambassador Bunnag began his lecture by giving an overall picture about Thailand. Then, he went into details about foreign policy of Thailand which he stressed the importance of Thailand as the gateway to the ASEAN. As well, he reiterated Thailand’s commitment towards Poland. Ambassador Bunnag pointed out many activities the Royal Thai Embassy had done to strengthen the relations between Thailand and Poland especially in the last year which marked the 40^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Poland.

     Furthermore, Ambassador Bunnag briefed on Thailand’s strategies to strengthen the relationship with Poland which focuses on three dimensions; politics, economy, and people-to-people contact. He illustrated some examples such as the publication of books translated into Polish language namely; Memoir of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and “Tajskie Smaki” Thai cookbook, which were given to all students in the class.

     At the end of the lecture, Ambassador Bunnag received some questions from the students. Among those were concerning the relation between Thailand and its neighboring countries such as China and Myanmar and also the situation in the Southern of Thailand which were clarified and well elaborated by Ambassador Bunnag.

     All in all, the lecture was successfully concluded and accomplished in promoting Thailand among Polish post-graduated students which in turn would bolster Thai – Polish relations in the future.
