On 14 January 2013, the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington DC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a seminar titled “Multiplying Strategic Thai Investments in the U.S.” at NarathipAuditiorium, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok. The seminar, which presented findings from a University of Maryland research project commissioned by the Royal Thai Embassy, served as a forum for Thai entrepreneurs interested in investing in the United States to learn more about ooprtuntiesin different states of the U.S. and also sectors which are most promising for Thai investors. The University of Maryland research project, which studies investment opportunities in 50U.S. states, was commissioned specifically to identify potential targets for trade and investment promotion and open up business opportunities for Thai investors in the United States. The said seminar was conducted by Dr. ChaiyongSatjipanon, Thai Ambassador to the United States. Dr. SandorBoyson of University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business,together with his team, presented their research findings, followed by commentaries from representatives of Thailand's Board of Investment, the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, as well as from Thai academia and private sector.
