On 3 October 2007, Foreign Minister Nitya Pibulsonggram visited Washington, D.C., to meet with senior members of the House and Senate, including Sen. James Webb (D-VA), member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee; Sen. Richard Lugar (R-CO), Ranking Member, Senate Foreign Relations Committee; Rep. Tom Lantos (D-CA), Chairman, House International Relations Committee; Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY), Chairman, House Ways and Means Committee; Rep. Donald Manzullo (R-IL), Ranking Member, Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, and the Global Environment); and Rep. Eni Faleomavaega (D-AS) Chairman, Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, and the Global Environment. Minister Nitya also met with Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense James Clad.
