On 25 September 2007, Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont, Foreign Minister Nitya Pibulsonggram and the Thai delegation attended the opening of the 62nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon in his opening statement spoke on the importance of UN reform and touched on current issues, including Darfur, the Middle East, Iraq and Myanmar, while stressing that climate change was the most important issue of the age, requiring all sides to forge a solution together.
