During 7-11 April 2025, the Thai delegation participated in the 51st UNCITRAL Working Group III (Part II) meeting in New York to discuss investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) reform, including the draft statute of a standing mechanism for the resolution of international investment disputes and the draft provisions on procedural and cross-cutting issues.

The Thai delegation, led by Mr. Songchai Chaipatiyut, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs, together with representatives from the Ministry and Office of the Attorney-General, actively and constructively discussed various issues at the meeting. The delegation also took a leading role in the side event co-hosted by the Permanent Missions of France and Thailand to the United Nations to underscore Thailand’s readiness and ability to host the headquarters of the Advisory Centre on International Investment Dispute Resolution in Bangkok as well as taking part in the activity of the Permanent Court of Arbitration under the topic of “PCA and Post-Conflict Situations,” which reflects Thailand’s vision to promote a system of equitable dispute settlement that is comprehensive and meets the needs of developing countries.
