On 21 October 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Thailand-United States Educational Foundation (TUSEF), presided over and delivered opening remarks at a reception welcoming the 2026 cohort of American English Teaching Assistants (ETAs). The ETAs will soon take up teaching assignments at schools in provinces across Thailand. The event was attended by representatives of the United States Embassy in Bangkok, Thai host teachers, and Fulbright alumni.

In his remarks, the Vice Minister warmly welcomed the ETAs and emphasized that their role extends well beyond teaching English. Through their engagement with students, teachers, and local communities, ETAs serve as bridges that foster cross-cultural learning, broaden perspectives, and deepen mutual understanding between the peoples of Thailand and the United States. He underscored that people-to-people ties, grounded in trust, mutual understanding, and enduring friendship remain the foundation of Thailand-U.S. relations, which span nearly two centuries.

TUSEF was established on 1 July 1950 under an agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the United States Department of State to promote mutual understanding between the two peoples through educational and cultural exchange. The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program is one of its key mechanisms for advancing educational cooperation and further strengthening people-to-people ties between Thailand and the United States.
