The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka offers support fund to HAKUZO-KAI Association – the Alumni Association of

Thai Studies Major students from Osaka University

           On 7 August 2020, Mr. Tomoya Nishimura, President of HAKUZO-KAI, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Krit Tankanarat, Consul-General of Thailand in Osaka, to report on the association’s past activities which include the annual get-together party of Thai Studies Major alumni from Osaka University and other activities which helped to strengthen Thai-Japanese relations.

             HAKUZO-KAI was established on 1949 as the Alumni Association of Thai Studies Major students from the School of Foreign Studies, Osaka University to foster the network of Japaneses who are “Friends of Thailand”. Presently comprising of 800 members, many have the opportunity to work and live in Thailand. To note, Osaka University is 1 of the 3 universities in Japan offering a major in Thai Studies, apart from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Kanda University of International Studies in Chiba prefecture. On this occasion, the Consul-General praised the association’s efforts in helping to gather the alumni and presented the financial support of 100,000 yen to support the activities of the association.
