H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, will join the delegation led by H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, to the 3rd ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit and the 1st Mekong-Republic of Korea Summit during 24-27 November 2019, in Busan, Republic of Korea.

The 3rd ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit will be attended by the leaders of ASEAN Member States and the President of the Republic of Korea to commemorate the 30th anniversary of ASEAN-Republic of Korea relations. As Chair of ASEAN, the Prime Minister will co-chair the Summit Meeting with the President of the Republic of Korea on 26 November 2019. During the plenary sessions, the leaders will review ASEAN-Republic of Korea’s achievements in the past 30 years, and set the direction of future cooperation in the next 30 years, as well as discussing how to enhance connectivity toward prosperity and sustainability. The leaders will also exchange views on regional issues and issues of mutual interest during the luncheon retreat. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to attend several side-events concerning issues such as smart cities, culture innovation, innovation showcase, and startup businesses during 24-26 November 2019.

During the visit to Busan, the Prime Minister is also scheduled to participate in the 1st Mekong - Republic of Korea Summit on 27 November 2019. The Mekong - ROK Cooperation framework has been upgraded to the summit level, after its inception in 2011. This is a reflection of the importance of the cooperation between Mekong countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam) and the Republic of Korea. It will provide an opportunity for the leaders to express their commitments to driving existing and future cooperation. The leaders are anticipated to adopt “Mekong - Han River Declaration,” which stresses the importance of people, regional prosperity, and peace, in line with Thailand’s policy to promote stability, prosperity, and sustainability. The Prime Minister and other leaders will also visit the Special Exhibition on Biodiversity Cooperation between Mekong countries and Korea under the theme “Life on the Mekong: Connecting People, Creating a New Future.”
