The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand will host the “ASEM Seminar on Enhancing Human Capital for Sustainable Digital Connectivity” on 25 October 2019 at Pullman King Power Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. The seminar aims to provide a platform for ASEM partners to share experiences and best practices on ways to enhance human capital and adapt to the rapid changes of the digital era. The seminar is held following the pledge delivered by H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, at the 12th ASEM Summit during 18 - 19 October 2018 held in Brussels, Belgium. The seminar reflects Thailand’s continued commitment to promote sustainability and connectivity in all dimensions, which is illustrated in Thailand’s Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2019, and announced at the 34th ASEAN Summit during 22 – 23 June 2019, held in Bangkok, as well as the 2019 G20 Summit during 28 – 29 June 2019 held in Osaka, Japan.

Thailand, as a Member State of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), is committed to strengthen partnership between Asia and Europe in sustainable connectivity in all dimensions which will help to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal No. 9 - to build a resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and foster innovation. The seminar will consist of keynote remarks by high-level representatives of ASEM countries and panel discussions among experts on various topics, including enhancing digital skills for the digital era, accessing the digital marketplace to transition towards the digital economy and cybersecurity. The event is expected to attract approximately 250 participants, including experts from public and private entities, academia, non-profit organisations and international organisations.

The seminar is part of a series of related meetings which Thailand has been hosting, including the ASEAN Smart Cities Network Annual Meeting in August 2019 and will host the Digital Thailand Big Bang 2019 to be held from 28-30 October 2019.
