On 22 April 2025, H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a bilateral discussion with H.E. Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, during the latter’s working visit to Thailand from 21 to 22 April 2025.
 
Both sides discussed preparations for the upcoming official visit of the Prime Minister to Viet Nam and the upcoming 4th Joint Cabinet Retreat (JCR). They discussed plans to announce the elevation of Thailand - Viet Nam relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), which will be a key highlight of the Prime Minister’s visit.
 
In addition, they also exchanged views on the challenges posed by global economic uncertainties and underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation, both bilaterally and within ASEAN, to safeguard the economic well-being of their countries and the region.
