On 22 January 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Swiss Federation.

Both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations. The Foreign Minister informed the Nigerian Foreign Minister of the implementation of the Thailand - Africa Initiative (TAI) and reiterated the importance of the Nigerian market for Thai products, such as rice and agricultural machinery. They also exchanged views on cooperation in the areas of trade and agriculture, with an emphasis on agricultural value chains and private-sector collaboration.
