On 21 January 2025, the Department of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with SDG Move, Faculty of Economics of Thammasat University, co-organized a consultative forum on “Thailand’s Sustainable Development: Towards the 2025 Voluntary National Review (VNR)” at Siam@Siam Design Hotel. Ms. Cataleya Phatoomros, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Organizations presided over the opening of the forum. The event brought together over 80 participants from government and business sectors and the civil society.
The objectives of this forum are to promote and support the participation of civil society and relevant stakeholders in the drafting process of Thailand’s 2025 VNR and to gather current information on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from various stakeholders as well as to strengthen collaborative mechanisms to advance the SDGs in Thailand. Participants at the forum exchanged views on current development challenges and strategic directions and recommendations to enhance the role of civil society and relevant stakeholders in driving forward the SDGs in Thailand.
The VNR is a crucial process through which UN member states report on their progress towards achieving the SDGs. Thailand will present its third VNR report at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in July 2025 at the UN Headquarters in New York. This consultation not only promoted inclusive participation in the VNR process, but also helped strengthen collaboration among all sectors in Thailand in advancing the SDGs.
