On 2 August 2024, His Excellency Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs met with Her Excellency Mrs. Colonne Appuhamillage Chaminda Inoka Colonne, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Thailand upon the completion of her tenure.

During the discussion, the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs expressed his appreciation to the Ambassador for her contributions in strengthening and developing the cordial relations between Thailand and Sri Lanka over the past three years. The Vice Minister emphasised the importance of the Thailand-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement, signed during the Prime Minister’s Official Visit to Sri Lanka on 3-4 February 2024. Both sides also exchanged views on ways to promote cooperation in various fields, especially trade and investment as well as expressed satisfaction on the resumption of the direct flights between Thailand and Sri Lanka which will help increase people-to-people contact.
