On 14 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, during the latter’s visit to Thailand to prepare for the upcoming high-level exchanges between the two countries on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Thailand - Viet Nam diplomatic relations this year.

Both sides discussed strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Thailand and Vietnam across various areas, including security, economy, trade, tourism, education and research, science, advanced technology, innovation, as well as connectivity in its various dimensions under the “Three Connects” strategy, which both countries will jointly advance toward tangible outcomes. Both sides also agreed to expedite the finalization of a Plan of Action to implement the Thailand - Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership at the earliest opportunity.
