On 24 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, had a meeting with Mr. Pablo Kang, First Assistant Secretary of the Southeast Asia Regional and Mainland Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia, at the Australian Ambassador’s Residence in Bangkok, during the latter’s visit to Thailand. 
 
Both sides discussed the overall state of bilateral relations and reaffirmed the importance of maintaining regular high-level engagements, particularly through exchanges of visits between the Prime Ministers of both countries. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments, including relations with major powers, engagement with neighbouring countries, and the situation in the Middle East.
 
On the same day, Mrs. Hataya Khusakul, Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, had a discussion with Mr. Kang. They discussed ways to further enhance bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of sustaining momentum through key mechanisms, including high-level exchanges, the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and the Senior Officials’ Talks, as well as cooperation under the Thailand - Australia Strategic Partnership and the new Joint Plan of Action for 2026 - 2029.
 
In addition, Mr. Piyapak Sricharoen, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs, also had a meeting with Mr. Kang. They exchanged views on key regional developments, including the situation in Myanmar, the Thailand - Cambodia border situation, development cooperation in the Mekong sub-region, and relations with major powers with a view to jointly promoting regional stability and prosperity.
