On 13 February 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with Mr. Keith Svendsen, CEO of APM Terminals and Executive Vice President of A.P. Moller-Maersk, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference 2026 in Munich.
Both sides discussed investment opportunities in Thailand, particularly the further development of Laem Chabang Port, as well as the possibility of investment under Public - Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements. The company emphasized its intention to strengthen relations with the Thai authorities following a decade of limited engagement. The Thai side underscored the importance of infrastructure development and reaffirmed the significance of Thailand’s relationship with the European Union, including its goal of concluding the Thailand - EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations within this year. Maersk reiterated its long-term commitment to continuing its business operations in Thailand.
