On 9 December 2025, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the reception commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). He delivered congratulatory remarks to the Government and the people of the Lao PDR, expressing the goodwill and best wishes on behalf of the Kingdom of Thailand for the Lao PDR’s continued progress and prosperity. He also stressed the special relationship between Thailand and the Lao PDR, rooted in close languages and cultures, which has led to active cooperation in all dimensions. Looking ahead, Thailand remains committed to continuing its close partnership and being a reliable partner of the Lao PDR.

The Vice Minister also highlighted the 75th anniversary of Thailand - Lao PDR diplomatic relations this year. Later this month, the two countries will hold the official opening ceremony of the Fifth Thai - Lao Friendship Bridge (Bueng Kan–Bolikhamxay) with a view to promoting connectivity and further enhancing exchanges between the two peoples.
