On 11 March 2026, Mr. Nikorndej Balankura, Ambassador-Designate of Thailand to France, had a meeting with Mr. Vincent Braconnay, Director of the Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France, to establish closer network of cooperation between the two sides with a view to facilitate future collaboration on historical diplomatic documents, including maps. The French side showcased a number of important historical documents from its archives and reaffirmed its readiness to fully cooperate with Thailand, as it has done in the past, should Thailand wish to receive support or further research historical documents or maps in the archives in the future.


The meeting was aimed to follow up on the discussion between H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, on 23 February 2026 during his visit to France, during which both sides discussed the latest developments regarding the Thailand - Cambodia situation. The French side reaffirmed its neutrality and expressed its readiness to cooperate with Thailand should Thailand wish to make use of historical documents preserved by France.
