On 10 June 2022, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, met with Ms. Enoh T. Ebong, Director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), during her official visit to Thailand from 9 – 10 June 2022 as part of her first regional tour since assuming office.

Both sides discussed further enhancing economic and sustainable development cooperation between Thailand and the U.S., especially in areas of shared priorities, including the advancement of the Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG Economy), climate action, clean energy, digital transformation, smart city, waste management, disaster response and prevention, innovation-based industries, health science, and smart agriculture. They stressed the importance of promoting collaborations between Thai government agencies and private sector, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with USTDA to advance development, technology, and innovation in related fields. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with USTDA, shall organise seminars to promote more opportunities of cooperation projects.

Thailand and USTDA have commenced their partnership since 1981 whereas USTDA set up its regional office in Thailand in 2019. Currently, the Thai public and private sector continue to implement projects in collaboration with USTDA, contributing to the economy and development as well as economic opportunities between Thailand and the U.S.
