On 26 November 2021, Mrs. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), paid a courtesy call on Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Thailand and UNESCAP in 2022.

During the meeting, UNESCAP Executive Secretary invited high-level representatives from Thailand to attend the Ninth Asia-Pacific Forum for Sustainable Development (APFSD) and the 78th Commission Session in March and May 2022, respectively. The themes for the aforesaid conferences will encourage Member States to discuss on a common agenda in advancing the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals, while building regional resilience in response to the future crises.

Both sides also discussed possible joint activities between UNESCAP and Thailand in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of UNESCAP and further cooperation during Thailand as the host of APEC in 2022.
