The Rt Hon Elizabeth Truss MP, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, will pay an official visit to Thailand as guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand during 8 – 10 November 2021 to strengthen the strategic partnership between Thailand and the UK.

This official visit is Foreign Secretary Truss’s first visit to Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia) after being appointed as Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the UK on 15 September 2021.

On this occasion, Foreign Secretary Truss will pay a courtesy call on H.E. Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister, and will have a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Gen. Supoj Malaniyom, Secretary- General of the National Security Council respectively.

The official visit of Foreign Secretary Truss to Thailand demonstrates the strategic partnership as well as the longstanding ties between Thailand and the UK which have existed for over 400 years. The visit will also provide a good opportunity for both sides to reinforce partnership in all dimensions, be they political, security and economic cooperation, in particular in the areas of green growth and environment to support the socio-economic post COVID-19 recovery efforts. Both sides will also exchange views on regional issues of their interest.
