Turkish Ambassador to Thailand calls on Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs

On 23 March 2023, H.E. Mrs. Serap Ersoy, Ambassador of Türkiye to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, to discuss ways to promote relations between Thailand and Türkiye.

On this occasion, both sides emphasized the follow-up and follow-through on bilateral cooperation following the visit to Türkiye of DPM/FM Don Pramudwinai, to co-chair the 4th Session of the Thai-Turkish Joint Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation during 25-27 January 2023 in Ankara.

Both sides placed emphasis on (1) expediting the Thai-Turkish Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations in order to reach an early conclusion; (2) reiterating the invitation to the Turkish side to invest in Thailand, especially in the Eastern Economic Corridor (3) promoting cooperation in the energy sector, including electric vehicles, education, tourism, and security, including the convening of the Security Dialogue between the two countries, and (4) expediting the implementation of Agreed Minutes of the Joint Committee and the 2nd Joint Plan of Action between Thailand and Türkiye which were signed during DPM/FM's visit to Türkiye.

Both sides also took this opportunity to discuss planned activities for the celebration of the 65th Anniversary of the establishment of Thai-Turkish diplomatic relations in 2023 as well as Thailand’s role in providing humanitarian assistance to Türkiye and future contributions to its reconstruction efforts following the massive earthquakes that affected Türkiye last month.
