TICA and KOICA co-signed the 3rd Three-year Action Plan (2020 - 2022) on the Joint Cooperation

Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and the President of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) co-signed the 3rd Three-year Action Plan (2020 - 2022) between KOICA and TICA on the Joint Cooperation. The Action Plan will promote and enhance the cooperation at bilateral and trilateral level as well as support exchange of experiences through trianing courses and exchange of experts in various areas of cooperation. Both sides also reaffirmed their supports of development cooperation to other developing countries in Mekong sub-region and ASEAN.

On 15 September 2020, Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took part in the signing ceremony to co-sign the 3rd Three-year Action Plan (2020 - 2022) between the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and TICA on the Joint Cooperation together with Ms. Lee Mikyung, President of KOICA. Representatives from relevant Thai implementing agencies were also present at the signing ceremony.

The Action Plan is formulated under the Memorandum of Understanding between TICA and KOICA on Strengthening Partnership for International Development Cooperation which aims at promoting and intensifying bilateral and trinagular cooperation in accordance with both sides’s common interests and shared values. The areas of cooperation include fisheries, water resources management, transportation infrastructure, public health (COVID-19) and Science, Technology and Innovation (STI).

Delivering the remarks at the ceremony, Ms. Hongtong and Ms. Lee reaffirmed the two agencies’ commitment to stregthening partnership between the two agencies and countries and to providing development cooperation support to other developing countries in partcular in the Mekong sub-region and ASEAN in the quest to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as the Mekong – Republic of Korea cooperation towards building a “People-centered Community of Peace and Prosperity” and South – South cooperation. The signing of the Action Plan was also welcomed by the Ministers during the 10th Mekong-Republic of Korea Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on 28 September 2020 where the Ministers anticipated that the cooperation between TICA and KOICA will further stimulate partnership and cooperation among the Mekong countries and the Republic of Korea.
