On 25 March 2022, Mr. Prapan Disyatat, Ambassador Attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand co-hosted the First Thailand-Republic of Korea Cybersecurity Dialogue via teleconference with Mr. Lee Choongmyon, Ambassador for International Security Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. The meeting was attended by representatives from 13 cyber-related agencies from both countries.

The Thailand-Republic of Korea Cybersecurity Dialogue is a bilateral cooperation framework initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea with the aim of enhancing cybersecurity cooperation, particularly in the exchange of information, lessons learned and best practices sharing as well as capacity-building on cybersecurity and countering threats from cybercrimes.

Both sides discussed and exchanged views on respective national policies and strategies on cybersecurity and the recent developments in the cyber-threat landscape. They also explored ways and means to promote cooperation on cybersecurity bilaterally as well as multilaterally through existing channels such as ASEAN-led regional frameworks and UN mechanisms.

The Thailand-Republic of Korea Cybersecurity Dialogue is the first bilateral framework dedicated to cybersecurity issues between Thailand and other foreign countries. It is also the first bilateral cybersecurity framework for the Republic of Korea with any Southeast Asian country. The said meeting is part of the activities to elevate bilateral relations between the two countries to mark the 10th Anniversary of the Thailand-Republic of Korea Strategic Partnership this year.
