On 3 July 2023, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held a meeting with H.E. Ms. Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, Undersecretary for Bilateral and ASEAN affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, at the Anantara Siam Hotel, Bangkok, to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and prepare for the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and the Philippines in 2024.

On this occasion, both sides agreed to closely coordinate to prepare for regular high-level dialogues and visits in the future, including the 6th Thai-Filipino Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) next year.

Both sides agreed that the two countries would step up their coordination to enhance bilateral cooperation in all dimensions. For example, they shared the same view on:
(1) Strengthening of political and security cooperation through regular exchanges of intelligence, combating of transnational crimes, exchanges of high-level personnel between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of both sides, and maritime cooperation;
(2) Advancing economic activities, in particular trade and investment facilitation, expansion of cooperation in the areas of agriculture, tourism, science and technology and digital cooperation; and
(3) Deepening technical cooperation, expanding capacity building programmes, as well as advancing educational, social, cultural and sport cooperation, and protection of Thai and Filipino workers in respective countries.

Both sides exchanged views on a wide range of challenges facing Southeast Asia and beyond, and agreed to strengthen coordination within the ASEAN framework in order to promote peace, stability and economic development in this region.
