On 12 September 2023, Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, hosted a farewell luncheon in honor of H.E. Mr. Thierry Mathou, French Ambassador to Thailand, and his spouse, Ms. Cecile Mathou. The luncheon was attended by H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, former Ambassador of Thailand to France, as well as representatives from Thai government agencies and private sectors.

On this occasion, Permanent Secretary expressed appreciation to the French Ambassador for his outstanding role in expediting the Roadmap for Thai-French Relations (2022-2024), which has led to the signing of an Agreement on the Visa Exemptions for Official Passports Holders this Friday (15 September 2023).

The French Ambassador also extended his gratitude to the Ministry for supporting the visit of H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Macron, French President to Thailand as the 29th APEC’s Guest of the Chair; the launch of the France-Thailand Year of Innovation 2023; and investment opportunites of Thai companies in France. The French Ambassador also expressed hope that the Prime Minister of Thailand will pay a visit to France next year to elevate the bilateral relations to the Thailand-France Strategic Partnership in 2024.
