On 2 December 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thailand Foundation jointly hosted the Presentation Ceremony of the Thailand’s Public Diplomacy Award 2025 at Vithes Samosorn, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This year, the Thailand Foundation’s Board unanimously decided to present the Thailand’s Public Diplomacy Award 2025 to GMMTV Co., Ltd. for its role as a “bridge” linking Thailand with the global community, building a wider fanbase for Thailand, and bringing the nation remarkable fame through the outstanding endeavors.
For over 30 years, GMMTV has produced and distributed multilingual entertainment that reaches 520 million followers worldwide across all platforms, while promoting Thai culture in all dimensions, including traditions, lifestyles, and modern values that uphold equality and human rights. This has helped bring Thai authors’ works to global audiences through English translation and adaptation into Japanese manga and Korean manhwa, as well as inspiring global interest in learning the Thai language.
Additionally, GMMTV also promotes Thai tourism by showcasing Thai attractions across all 77 provinces. Furthermore, the company organizes over 521 events in 50 locations around the world with international partners to promote Thailand in diverse dimensions.
H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, extended his congratulations to Mr. Sataporn Panichraksapong, Chief Executive Officer of GMMTV Co., Ltd., Mr. Takonkiet Viravan, Director, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Group Chief Executive Officer of the One Enterprise Public Company Limited., Ms. Busaba Daoruang, Vice Chairman, Executive Director of GMM Grammy Public Company Limited; and the management team of GMMTV Co., Ltd. They then posed for a group photo before the official ceremony began.
The ceremony commenced with Mr. Tharit Charungvat, Secretary-General of the Thailand Foundation, delivering a report on the objectives of the Thailand’s Public Diplomacy Award, followed by opening remarks and welcome speech by H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. H.E. Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, announced the award laureate and the award was presented by H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan. The event was attended by over 200 participants, including members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations, government, private sector, civil society and media representatives.
The Thailand’s Public Diplomacy Award was established in 2022 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thailand Foundation to honor Thai and foreign individuals, groups, or organizations who have significantly contributed to the recognition of Thailand, Thai people, and Thainess on the international stage. Another objective was to support recipients in continuing their outstanding works and to inspire the general public to participate more actively in advancing Thai public diplomacy.
In 2022, Dr. Soontorn Antarasena, an otolaryngologist, was the first laureate of the Thailand’s Public Diplomacy Award. The following year, in 2023, Thai golf-champion siblings Ms. Moriya Jutanugarn and Ms. Ariya Jutanugarn, received the Award. Meanwhile, in 2024, a total of three laureates were awarded the Thailand’s Public Diplomacy Awards: the Venerable Phra Phrompacharayanmuni (Ajahn Jayasaro), the Siam Society under Royal Patronage, and Mr. Somtow Sucharitkul.
This prestigious award comprises several components designed to confer honour and recognition, specifically: the inscription of the laureate’s name upon the invaluable perpetual trophy named “Goodwill”; a permanent inscription of the name on the Wall of Honour displayed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Furthermore, the laureate shall be presented with an honorary plaque, a commemorative replica of the trophy, and a monetary award in commendation of the notable contributions they have created to the country.
