On 14 July 2021, H.E. Mr. Chairat Porntipwarawet, Ambassador of Thailand to Romania, presided over the inauguration ceremony of Thai Corner at the University of Oradea. The ceremony was organised to express strong interests from both sides to strengthen academic cooperation between Thailand and Romania. On this occasion, the Royal Thai Embassy, Bucharest has donated a grant of 50,000 Thai Baht (1,297 Euro) to the University and has given books about Thailand to the University’s library collection. The ceremony was co-presided by Prof. Dr. Sanda Monica Filip, Vice-Rector on Research Management and Quality Assurance, and joined by Prof. Dr. Sorin Borza, Vice-Rector on Visibility and International Relations, academic staff, local press, Royal Thai Embassy’s staff, and Thai students.
The University of Oradea was established in 1990. Currently, there are 15 faculties with over 17,000 students and 800 international students. The University has academic cooperation with over 200 universities and institutes from 31 countries and is part of the ERASMUS Programme.
