On 8 September 2025, H.E. Mr. Dusit Manapan, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, presided over the opening ceremony of “The Colours of Africa 2025” together with African Ambassadors and Honorary Consuls to Thailand. The event was supported by the private sector, including Kenya Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, and PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited and attended by representatives from relevant government agencies and the media.
The event aims to raise awareness, broaden perspectives, and provide new insights on Africa, while promoting accurate knowledge and understanding of the African region among the Thai public and youth. This will contribute to fostering mutual understanding between the people of Thailand and Africa, as well as advancing sustainable benefits and cooperation between Thailand and Africa. The event this year is organised during 8 - 9 September 2025, between 10.00 to 20.00 hrs. Further information is available at sameaf.mfa.go.th and via the Ministry’s social media channels. The Colours of Africa 2025 comprises 3 main events:
1. Activities during the opening ceremony, such as a choral performance of songs related to Africa by a youth choir of lower secondary school students from an award-winning school recognized by the Ministry and a fashion show of African national costumes, presented by representatives of the Ministry, as well as African Embassies and Honorary Consulates in Thailand.
2. Activities to promote the potential and opportunities for trade, investment, cultural, and tourism cooperation between Thailand and Africa, which include (1) exhibition booths presented by African Embassies, African Honorary Consulates, African airlines operating flights to Thailand, and vendors offering African food and beverage products; (2) African music and cultural performances, including musical showcases by African bands and cultural performances by African communities residing in Thailand; (3) demonstrations of African cuisine and desserts, supported by African Embassies in Thailand and Ethiopian Airlines; and (4) lucky draws for air tickets to Africa, sponsored by Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airlines.
3. A competition to promote knowledge about the African region, featuring the final round with the participation of lower secondary school students (Grades 7–9) from schools in Bangkok and its satellite cities. The competition consisted of (1) an English public speaking contest on the theme “Africa: the Land of Great Culture and Wonderful Nature”; (2) a quiz competition on the African region; and (3) an exhibition of winning paintings under the theme “Africa in My Impression.”
In addition, the Ministry will also organize a Business Forum on business and investment opportunites on 22 September 2025. The seminar aims to promote trade and investment prospects in Africa by sharing experiences from Thai entrepreneurs who have successfully established business operations in the region.
