Thailand reaffirms that all activities undertaken by the Thai side, such as the field visits by foreign defense attachés accredited to Thailand to the border areas and the installation of barriers to enhance safety and security along the border, are fully consistent with the Joint Statement between Thailand and Cambodia signed on 27 December 2025. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has therefore sent letters to Cambodia to categorically reject their unfounded allegations in this respect.
Under the Joint Statement, both sides agreed to maintain existing troop deployments at the time of ceasefire and not to conduct activities beyond their respective sides. Hence, actions undertaken by the Thai side thus far are therefore in accordance with the provisions of the Joint Statement agreed upon by both sides. In addition, both sides also agreed that all arrangements under this Joint Statement are without prejudice to the border demarcation work being undertaken by the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) framework.
Thailand underscores the urgent need for countries in the region to work together to address the ever-growing threat of online scams. Thailand continues to call upon Cambodia to enhance cooperation with the relevant Thai authorities, through existing bilateral mechanisms, in order to effectively suppress online scam activities along the Thailand-Cambodia border.
Thailand reaffirms its commitment to the Joint Statement and to the peaceful resolution of differences through existing bilateral mechanisms, in the spirit of good neighborliness, good faith, and sincerity, with a view to maintaining mutual peace and stability, and promoting the shared benefits of both countries and their people.
