On 20 November 2025, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, jointly delivered opening remarks with H.E. Mr. Pedro Zwahlen, Ambassador of Switzerland to Thailand, at a reception on the occasion of the Swiss National Day.
 
The Vice Minister reaffirmed the close and long-standing relations between Thailand and Switzerland, recalling the deep historical ties between the Thai Royal Family and Switzerland. He highlighted opportunities to further enhance cooperation following the signing of the Thailand - European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Free Trade Agreement (FTA), including in tourism, education, climate action and people-to-people exchanges. He also expressed appreciation for Switzerland’s message of condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
 
The Ambassador of Switzerland remarked on the strong dynamism and historic ties between the two countries, particularly the period during which Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother pursued their studies in Lausanne, paying tribute to Their Majesties. He also reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to further strengthen partnership with Thailand in the areas of economic, sustainability, and multilateral cooperation.
