During 18 - 20 November 2025, H.E. Mr. Darm Boontham, Ambassador of Thailand to Saudi Arabia, in his capacity as Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, led the Thai Delegation to attend the meeting of the Conseil permanent de la Francophonie (CPF) and the Conférence ministérielle de la Francophonie (CMF) under the framework of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) on the theme “30 ans après la Conférence de Beijing: la contribution des femmes dans l'espace francophone” in Kigali, Republic of Rwanda, in Thailand’s capacity as an observer country.
The Ambassador delivered a statement reaffirming Thailand’s commitment to the promotion of women’s rights and gender equality, highlighting progress in legislation and the role of Thai women on the international stage, including their participation in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations. He also referred to the royal initiatives of members of the Thai Royal Family, including Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, whose contributions in handicrafts, agriculture and community development have significantly improved the quality of life of the Thai people, as well as the late Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, founder of the Thai Association of French Teachers in 1977, who consistently promoted the French language and culture.
The Thai delegation submitted a written clarification concerning the Thailand - Cambodia border situation and requested that the facts be recorded in the Political and Diplomatic Report of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie. In addition, the Ambassador also held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Nicolas Guinard, Director of Political Affairs and Democratic Governance of the OIF, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Thailand and the OIF. He also submitted a written clarification to reaffirm Thailand’s position concerning the Thailand - Cambodia border situation on the basis of accurate information.
