On 18 March 2025, Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden, together with Ms. Pittara Navarat, Minister Counsellor, and Mr. Natouch Thammanuruk, Counsellor, visited the Port of Gothenburg, the largest port in Scandinavia. During the visit, they held discussions with Mr. Jens Larsson, Head of Public Affairs, and the port’s executive team.
The Port of Gothenburg provided an overview of its operations, highlighting its role as a key logistics hub for both the Nordic region and Europe. The port features various specialized terminals to meet market demands, including energy terminals, container terminals, and terminals for automobiles and construction equipment.
During the discussions, the Ambassador explored opportunities to enhance cooperation between Thailand and the Port of Gothenburg, particularly in promoting the direct shipping route between the Port of Gothenburg and Laem Chabang Port, which is set to commence the operations on April 1, 2025. This direct route is expected to significantly boost trade and investment between Thailand and Sweden in the future.
