We are extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Abe Shinzo, former Prime Minister of Japan, from the horrendous assassination in Nara on 8 July 2022.

We in Thailand will always fondly remember Mr. Abe for being a true friend of Thailand, who was committed to nurturing the warm ties of friendship and cooperation between Thailand and Japan in all dimensions.

We condemn this heinous act of violence in the strongest manner and support efforts in bringing the perpetrator(s) to justice.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the people of Japan during this difficult time.
